Dentures are dental appliances designed to restore missing teeth. They typically come with replacement teeth secured to flesh-colored bases that sit over the gums. Today’s modern dentures look natural and are more comfortable than ever!
Types of Dentures
There are two main types of dentures, complete and partial. Complete dentures are designed to restore all your teeth, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
Complete dentures can be conventional or immediate. Conventional dentures are fitted after removing any remaining teeth, and the tissue heals, which typically takes about eight to 12 weeks. Immediate dentures, on the other hand, are created ahead of time and placed right after removing the teeth. However, the bones and gums shrink and change shape during healing, so your dentures will need adjusting and relining to ensure a comfortable fit.
Partial dentures are removable alternatives to fixed dental bridges. They consist of replacement teeth attached to metal frameworks that connect to your natural teeth.
